Minerva Medical Group announces Partnership with the Massachusetts General Hospital Space Medicine Fellowship

I'm excited to announce that Minerva Medical Group is now a commercial spaceflight partner of the Massachusetts General Hospital Space Medicine Fellowship, the first GME-accredited space medicine fellowship on Earth.

As Chief Medical Officer of Minerva Medical Group, I have worked to develop operational medical protocols, educational material, and clinical training systems specifically designed for the realities of commercial human spaceflight. These systems support both the operational objectives of active launch environments and the educational goals established by the MGH fellowship program and the training standards of the Space Medicine Fellowship Council for operational space medicine experience.

Through this partnership, fellows rotate directly into active commercial spaceflight operations at our launch site, participating in launch and static fire support, emergency response planning, ambulance transport systems, medevac access point assessment, industrial medical operations, and real-time operational decision-making. The training is not simulation-based. The tempo, environmental challenges, and operational pressures are real.

The protocols and educational systems developed at Minerva emphasize adaptability, systems integration, operational risk assessment, and evidence-based medical decision-making under constrained conditions. These principles directly support both current commercial launch operations and the future development of sustainable human presence beyond Earth.

As commercial spaceflight rapidly evolves, the need for physicians trained specifically for austere operational environments will continue to grow. We are excited to help train the next generation of operational space medicine physicians while contributing to the infrastructure that will support humanity’s expansion deeper into space.

Please reach out if you'd like to learn more!
